Intermediate championship fare at the weekend

June 20, 2008
There was some fine action in the Intermediate football championship last weekend with Kilbride surprising fancied Aughrim and Annacurra overcame an under strength Ballymanus. The Liffeysiders now meet Dunlavin while Annacurra take on Knockanna. Kilbride led from start to finish on Sunday evening last playing in Baltinglass and wearing the home strip. Ciaran Jones was at his influential best scoring 0-8 of the 1-9 total showing little difficulty with either foot. Much will again be expected of Jones on Saturday evening (18.30) again in Baltinglass for the clash with near neighbours Dunlavin. Neighbours Annacurra and Knockanna play on the same bill in Baltinglass on Saturday evening (19.00) on the longest night day of the year while on Sunday, Bray and Valleymount travel to Roundwood (18.00) while at the same time over in Avondale, Kilcoole and Aughrim clash.
