Blesso . just about
June 20, 2008
Hollywood will probably feel somewhat aggrieved not to have denied Blessington, having looked like winners entering the final stages of the game but the town team just about did enough and thanks to a late David Behan goal secured the two points.
Neither Donard/Glen nor Coolkenno will have been happy to have drawn their game in Aughrim on Sunday in an encounter that seemed never-ending particularly from the West team's perspective. Kiltegan showed early championship form in achieving a comprehensive win over Bray Emmets.
A feature of Kiltegan's win was the surge that the team made in the second-half having been ahead by just one goal at half time. Bray were confined to just two scores in that period while Kiltegan put on eight points in that latter period with many players getting in on the scoring action. While Mick O'Dwyer did not get to see Blessington play, he remarked that he thought they were a good team last year and many teams who do well in championship football often scrape out results early on.
