Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney Club Notes

August 19, 2010
The Garden County Draw is acting as the club's main fundraiser this year. We urge members to support this draw: a significant portion (approx 60%) of income from all tickets sold goes directly to the club, so the more that we can sell, the more we'll benefit!!! These funds will go towards the construction of our very own clubhouse. You can also buy a share in a ticket for €20. Anyone interested in buying a share in our main club fundraiser for 2010 - the County Development Draw, contact Ray Menton (0851642221), Mairead Hurley (0863619982) or Philip Healy (0879164750). It would be greatly appreciated. The ladies senior team had a comprehensive & impressive win over An Tochar last Sunday. Second half AGB struggled & lost some possession but they never gave up & put in 100% right until the final whistle. Ciara Mc Clean had a very strong performance in the backs & Megan O Brien had a good game. Hard luck girls but well done on performance. Thanks to all those who travelled to Roundwood to watch the two teams.
The U14 Girls had a training session in Ballymoney with Ronan Robinson, men's senior coach last Thursday night, he really put them through their paces, but the girls thoroughly enjoyed the session and it is good preparation for their up coming game against Saint Nicolas, Dunlavin this coming Thursday at Ballymoney throw in at 7pm. With summer holidays the U12 Boys game in Castletown was cancelled last Thursday, so their coaches decided to give them a lesson in healthy eating and brought them to McDonalds!!! they soon forgot their disappointment of the cancelled match. Our Minors have improved steadily under the management of Brian McBride. After losing their first game to An Tochar they have been consistently training and developing their team, putting in a huge effort which has resulted in a series of wins within the county. Playing against Ashford they won by 4-18 to 1-4, against Coolkenna winning by 5-11 to 2-8 and Newtown by 6-11 to 1-7. Last Tuesday they played a fantastic game against Newtown scorers on the night were, Shane Mc Bride 3-0, Niall Garvey 2-2, Mark Murphy 0-3, Eamonn Quirke1-0, Kyle Dowling0-3, Ross Hynes 0-2, Ian Kellegher 0-1. Good luck to Brian Doyle who is cycling 160km around the Ring of Kerry this weekend raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) anyone wishing to donate to this very important charity go to www.arklowgaa.ie . Oh and Brian there's two tubs of sudacream in the office for you. Finally everyone in the club from the nursery up would like to wish our Games Development Officer and member of the Dublin team, Darren Magee a speedy recover from the injury he sustained during his club match with Kilmacud Crokes last weekend.
