National Award for Kilcoole Camogie Club's Nomination for 'Camogie Photo of the Year 2009' in the Mick Dunne Media Awards - we were delighted when we got News that our Nomination won the Award. Congratulations from all in Kilcoole to Photographer, Mick Kelly, who won with his photo of Jessica Morrissey from a Match last Summer v Avondale.
Our Camogie Celebration Night was held on Saturday in Kilcoole Golf Club. A most enjoyable night was had by all. Awards were presented to Players who represented us on the Inter County scene incl those who were part of the National League winning squad.
Mick Kelly presented a Copy of his Award winning Photo to us and we in turn presented it to Debbie and Noel Morrissey, Jessica's parents. He also made his first Wicklowsport.com Kilcoole Player of the Year Presentation and the lucky recipient was Nicky Keddy. Highlight of the Evening was the naming of our 'Player of the Year 2009'. Celina O'Toole was a most worthy winner - Congratulations!
Thanks to many people who helped with this Function, in particular Kilcoole Golf Club, Eddie Nugent who made sure everyone was well fed and Darren Colllopy who ensured the Dance floor was busy all night. A very successful Raffle was also held and we are grateful to the individuals who contributed the many Prizes and to local businesses: McSherry's Pharmacy, Bomar, Creative Touch, Kilcoole Pharmacy, Byrnes' Pub, EuroSmart and Frankie Sports who also supported us.
Next Sunday its down to business as the Intermediate team gets into action with their opening game v Annacurra. It's a home game and starts at 12 noon.
The U11s put in a fantastic performance v St Marks in Tallaght at the week-end, battling all the way against a very strong team, they were rewarded with a goal before full-time. The squad on the day were Caitlin O Toole, Sophia Smirnova, Ciara Kelly, Kiana Merriman, Roisin Keegan, Emma Davis, Sara Davis, Lorna Bates, Ava Condon and Amy Byrne.
A great combination move down the field resulted in Kiana Merriman (watch this Star Drummer rock on Youtube!) resulted in Roisin Keegan hitting the back of the net - well done to everybody involved there. Next week they travel to Cabra to take on Naomh Fionnbarra.
The County U14 team recorded their third success in a row in their Leinster League at the week-end. Playing for us were Aoife Keddy, who got her name on the scoresheet again as she has in the other two games, Katie Honan, Rachel Finnegan and Sinead Kinsella - another great day's work.
As the Outdoor season fast approaches, the Indoor League for U11, 12, 13 and 14 players continues in Colaiste Chraobh Abhann on Tuesdays from 6.30 - 7.50.
See you all at the Greystones St Patrick's Day Parade!
