Fermanagh 2-9
Wicklow 0-9
The concession of two first-half goals saw Wicklow lose out to Fermanagh last Sunday in Division Three of the Bord Gais National Football League at Hollywood, Wicklow.
The hosts began the match brightly with scores from Niamh Carroll and Aisling O'hAnnaidh, before Fermanagh kicked into gear when midfielder Caroline Little pierced the Wicklow defence and fired in a fine goal.
Caroline and Sharon Little went to work on the Garden women after that by sending over some neat points and when Danielle Maguire lashed in the visitors' second goal, Wicklow were trailing by 2-7 to 0-3 at half-time.
To their credit, the home side never threw in the towel and points from substitutes Caoilfhionn Deeney and Jackie Kinch kept them within some sort of touching distance of their Ulster opponents.
Further points from Cathriona McKeon and Kinch cut the deficit to 2-7 to 0-8 and Wicklow were unlucky not to have struck a goal at a crucial stage in the game when Deeney stormed through but had her effort blocked.
The closing stages saw Fermanagh out-score their Leinster counterparts by 0-2 to 0-1 which was enough to ensure the current Ulster intermediate crown holders victory in the end.
