Donard/Glen football notes

March 01, 2010
A record crowd at the Annual Dinner Dance in Inis Fail on Friday last. Maybe the recession if over. It did help of course to have two clubs celebrating championship wins. First up were the Camogie Club celebrating retaining their senior championship win. This team seems to be going from strength to strength.

Next up were the ladies football team who won the county junior B title. This was a great achievement after just 4 years in existence. There were quiet a few dual players involved here. So a lot of girls bad two medals to collect. County camogie chairperson Mrs Breda Byrne presented the camogie medals and Margaret Allen presented the ladies football in her capacity as county chairperson.

Colm Toomey was presented with a trophy as senior player of the year. Ger Reddin is junior player of the year and Mick Daly was club man of the year.

Our senior footballers start their league campaign next Sunday when they play Rathnew away. The ladies will play Arklow Gers away in their first league game
