Mick O'Dwyer believes the GAA should strongly consider a 13-a-side game to combat negative tactics. Gaelic football's most successful manager feels the game is being ruined as a spectacle by an over-emphasis on negative, defensive tactics, and he says the time has come to tackle the issue by reducing team numbers from 15 to 13. "It has gone way too tactical altogether and it is unfair on the public," the 73-year-old Wicklow manager said. "The tactics are causing bunching and it is more defensive, it is rare that you see an open and fast game of inter-county football. "It is time to go 13-a-side. Players are so fit now and it would open up more space and make the game more exciting. It's coming to that, where we might have to 13-a-side as the tactical side of it is harming the image of the game."
