Underage

U-14 Girls

Our U-14 Girls took on The Downs last Tuesday in Shandonagh. This was always going to be a tough contest and although we were missing some players, our team stood up to the challenge. The first half was a very close game but Shandonagh pulled away in the second half to overcome a very strong Downs team. Final score was Shandonagh 6-08 The Downs 2-08.

Féile 2017

On Friday afternoon, our U-14 boys and mentors set off for Carrick on Shannon to begin their quest in Féile 2017. Our base in St. Mary's Kiltoghert was exceptional and the hospitality we received from start to finish was magnificent. The boys prepared for their first game against St. Ciaran's and came out winners on a scoreline of Shandonagh 4-09 St. Ciaran's 1-02. Our second game was later that evening against Manorhamilton and this proved to be a close, yet high scoring encounter. Shandonagh battled hard to keep off a late surge by Manorhamilton and the game finished Shandonagh 5-11 Manorhamilton 4-04. Saturday kicked off with the last game of the group against our hosts, St. Mary's and yet again Shandonagh dominated around the middle of the field with some great play from Daniel Schaill, Oisin Murray and Donal Mulvhil. This game finished Shandonagh 2-10 St. Mary's 2-02 and put Shandonagh through to the Cup Quarter final against Gloucestershire GAA in Corlough. Shandonagh dominated this game from the start going in at half time 1-08 to no score. Despite being against the wind in the second half, Shandonagh maintained this strong presence and kept the score board ticking over to come away with a win. Shandonagh 1-14 Gloucestershire GAA 1-01.  This set up a Semi Final game against St. Mogue's Fethard on Sunday in Devenish, Co. Fermanagh. With the boys well rested on Saturday night, they departed early from Carrick on Shannon. The game was slightly delayed however the boys remained fully focused. With the wind advantage in the first half Shandonagh went in 1-01 up however this lead didn't prove strong enough as St. Mogue's fought back very had to claim victory on a scoreline of 1-07 to 2-02. They boys represented our club so well and brought so much pride and joy to Shandonagh that we are very proud of them. Thank you to St. Mary's GAA for their hospitality throughout the weekend, Mattie Murray for ensuring the team got everywhere safely, the management and families for all the help with ensuring this brilliant team were fully prepared and to the supporters who travelled to Féile. Thank you also to Mullingar Credit Union for their sponsorship.
