June 26, 2017We played Garrycastle away last Friday night in the Feis Cup. It has been 16 years since we competed in this competition so it was great to be back playing in it. What took place was a very face paced, open game of football with some fine scores on display. We started slowly but found our feet half way through the second half with a goal by Richie O'Brien, a TJ Fox point from out on the right, two quick points from play by Shane Tone , and a fantastic individual goal by David Tone to leave up 6 points up at half time. The second half really opened up with Garrycastle now attacking the game to try and salvage something. This they did , and with ten minutes to go there was only two points between the sides. We rallied again with Ben Cox kicking 3 points from frees, Declan Mullen kicked another point off his tight foot following some good link up play with TJ Fox. We survived the Garrycastle onslaught and finished with an inspirational score by the ever reliable Plunkett Maxwell, so ran nearly 50 yards to slot the ball over the bar with the outside of his right boot to seal a well deserved win. We are now in the semi final with the opposition to be confirmed still.

The club would also like to pay tribute to Garrycastle's Dessie Dolan who was inducted into the Leinster Hall of Fame last Sunday, well deserved.
Our Pride of Place weekend finished off last Sunday with mass by Fr Jimmy Murray in Kil Graveyard, and what a weekend it was. From the heritage walk up the hill, to the 5 a side games with hilarious commentary on Saturday, and finishing with the BBQ it was a fantastic weekends entertainment and great to see so many club members out in support. Well done to the committee on a very successful weekend of events.
Walking Track: Lights are now off for the summer months. Only those with membership paid are permitted and insured to use the walking track.
