Waterford manager Derek McGrath has stressed that the youngsters in the side will get ample opportunity to impress during the NHL.

McGrath and his selectors were not afraid to throw a few younger players in against Limerick last weekend and they came away with a draw.

And McGrath stressed to the Waterford News & Star that regardless of the result, the youngsters were going to get another chances against Laois this Saturday night.

"What we have said as a management is that if it didn't go well against Limerick that we were going to persist with those players," said McGrath.

"That's where people probably have the problem leaving them go through and serve their apprenticeship at under-21 level as opposed to putting them in straight away.

"We just feel that the best way of getting them up to the pace for this year and for years to come is to put them in there now and leave them to develop. They did well, but next week is a different challenge."
