Shannon Gaels are excited to announce that Patrick Murray, the placekicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be a special guest at our dinner dance next Saturday.

Patrick's dad Aidan is from Clones, County Monaghan, where Patrick's uncles Ciaran and Brendan starred on the great Monaghan team of the 80's. As a youth, Patrick played Gaelic football with Rockland County and credits his success with American football to his days playing Gaelic football.

Patrick played on his high school football team at Don Bosco Preparatory School in Ramsay, New Jersey where his mother Linda teaches.

He attended Fordham University where he received every award possible including 2012 consensus First Team All-American placekicker... 2012 Fred Mitchell Award recipient... 2012 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Placekicker of the Year... Earned First Team All-America placekicker honors by Associated Press, The Walter Camp Foundation, The Sports Network, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Beyond Sports Network (BSN)... First Team All-Patriot League as a placekicker and punter... Led 2012 NCAA FCS in field goals/game and ranked... set a new Fordham and Patriot League record with 25 field goals, shattering the former mark of 18 set by Fordham[apos]s Matt Fordyce in 2002... closed out his career with 186 punts for 7,985 yards, an average of 42.9 yards/punt, the second best career punting average in Fordham history... named Capital One Academic All-District 1 in 2012... recipient of the 2012 and 2013 Macken Award which was established in memory of Rams[apos] special assistant coach Bob Macken... 2011 consensus All-American... named 2011 NCAA FCS Punt Performer of the Year by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).

He signed with Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014. He wears the number 7 jersey, and made 20 of 24 attempts in his first season, including a 55 yard completion.
