Jerome Quinn reports on a long-awaited victory for Kerry/Donegal in the 2014 New York Ladies Gaelic Football SFC Final with Na Fianna at Gaelic Park.

'We've always been there or thereabouts but finally we finished the job today', said proud captain Anita McKenna from Co Monaghan. The Farney connection extended to county midfielder Eileen McKenna and current All Star Caoimhe Mohan.

'This is a memory for the rest of life, I'm never going to forget it', said Caoimhe. 'It's just like being at home, there's football three or four times a week, the girls are so dedicated, you think American football is nothing but I have been put through my paces out here. It's been absolutely fabulous, I'm so glad I came here and did this experience'.

Na Fianna's manager is Dubliner Dean O'Connor who was upbeat in defeat. 'The standard here has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, very noticeably. Players go to CYC and then move onto clubs. We had at least ten American-born players in our panel'.
