Boston Kerry suffer first loss

June 16, 2014
Kerry suffer their first loss of the year going down to Donegal on a score line of 2-15 to 2-10. Kerrys goals came in the first and second halves whilst Donegal scored 2 late goals in the space of 2 minutes in the second half. The half time score read Donegal 0-8 - Kerry 1-2, Graham Glynn the goal scorer for Kerry. Kerry got off to the worst possible start with Donegal in complete control all over the field rattling off 7 points in a row and had not it been for 2 great saves by Lee Stacey they would have been further ahead. Robby Croft set up Graham Glynn for Kerrys opening score, a well taken goal after 23 minutes. Croft quickly added a point from a free. Graham Glynn added a point from play for Kerry. Donegal scores came from both corner forwards Stephen Griffin and Derry man Eoin Bradley. In spite of having 70 per cent of possession it was only a 3 point lead by Donegal at the half 0-8 to 1-2.
Donegal broke out of the traps in a hurry to start the second half with Owen Bradley knocking over 2 rapid points to put Donegal ahead by 5. Paul Devane pulled one back for Kerry and a minute later Joey Fitzpatrick sent a pass to the open Niall Sheehy and he buried the ball in the back of the Donegal net. Game on - just a point in it. Graham Glynn was pulled down and Robby Croft had the sides level with the resulting free. Kerry would go ahead on their next attack as a result of a 45 by Robby Croft. Now Kerry were winning the mid field battle and would pull ahead with another Croft 45. Joey Fitzpatrick and Eoin Bradley traded points after some great passing play. Niall Sheehy finished well for another Kerry point. Just then due to a poor mistake by the Kerry forwards saw Donegal drive down the field in the space of less than 2 minutes score 2 goals, one by Daniel McLaughlin and the other by Stephen Griffin which turned a one point lead into a 5 point deficit. Both teams traded points in the end to leave the final score 2-15 to 2-10. Eoin Bradley had 9 points of Donegals total. Kerry for their part did well in the second half but the new arrivals for Donegal made all of the difference saw Donegal life the Pat O'Brien as well as the 2 points.
