Kerry beat Shannon Blues by 2-11 to 0-6 with both goals scored by Graham Glynn one in each half.

The Blues were first to score in the semi final of the Pat O'Brien cup. Shane Kavanagh converted a free after just one minute of play. Graham Glynn leveled for Kerry. Kavanagh had the Blues ahead with 2 more points after 7 minutes.

Joey Fitzpatrick pulled one back for Kerry. David Clifford extended the lead for the Blues to make it 4 points to 2 points after 13 minutes. From then on it was all Kerry. Niall Sheehy rounded his man and he split the post. Kerry would have rattle off 1-4 without reply from the Blues. Derek Nolan had Kerry on level terms, Joey Fitzpatrick put Kerry ahead. A minute later Graham Glynn had the ball in the Blues net. This was followed with 2 great points from Niall Sheehy to leave Kerry ahead 1-7 to 0-4. Derek O'Brien had the last score of the half for the Blues to leave the score at half time Kerry 1-7 - Shannon Blues 0-5.

The second half saw Kerry score 1-4 to a single point for the Blues. It was not for a want of trying by the Blues. They attacked the Kerry net on several occasions but some great defensive play by the Kerry backs namely Aaron Fitzgerald denied the Blues time after time and without their best forward Shane Kavanagh who went off injured in the first half. It was not to be the Shannon Blues day. Kerry for their part played a solid game from start to finish. They play Donegal in the cup final - a date to be named later as the first round of the Championship starts next Sunday May 26th when Kerry will play Galway.

A large crowd is expected at the Irish Cultural Center on May 25th . It's the start of the Senior Football Championship with 8 senior teams competing. Also the North East Board will be hosting the Barley House Wolves. It is a great story. A group of soldiers on a stop over at Shannon Airport watched a hurling game on RTE and when they returned back to the USA they formed a hurling club in New Hampshire. Eight years later they are still going strong. On hand to congratulate them will be the Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh, the Consulate General Breandán Ó Caollaí and many other VIPs.
