New York captain Brendan Quigley
Former Laois midfielder Brendan Quigley will captain New York against Mayo in their Connacht SFC clash on May 4.

The Timahoe clubman will lead the side into battle at Gaelic Park while Kerry's Gary O'Driscoll has been appointed vice-captain by manager Ian Galvin.

"Brendan's experience and leadership qualities are there for all to see," the manager said.

Quigley added: "To be a captain of any team is an honour. I really wasn't expecting it but I'm delighted. I'm very proud to take it on."

The 2012 All Star nominee revealed that no stone is being left unturned in their preparations for the visit of the All-Ireland finalists.

"It's a lot more professional than I thought it was going to be. I know there hasn't been a match won here but every effort is being made to try and compete with Mayo. From what I've seen, it's close enough to what you'd be doing at home.

"We don't have the competitive games and the weather has made it tough but everything else has been done to get us up to standard."
