Parnells Club notes

August 07, 2015

ABC

Parnells took part in the ABC last week end and a massive thank you to all the players that played with passion and determination and did themselves and their club proud - you certainly put Parnells firmly on the map! Thank you to all our parents and helpers who helped with the teams over the weekend - your help is invaluable in the clubs progress - so thank you! Thank you to all our sponsors - we certainly looked the part in our new kits and again without you our job would be hard. And a special thanks to TCG for hosting another great tournament.

Under 10s

A non competiitve battle by all our players A big WELL DONE to the three teams who represented Parnells in the All Britain Championship under 10's tournament. They were simply fantastic both on and off the field and are a credit to themselves and their parents. The future is looking bright with these players moving up an age group.

Under 12s

Parnells U12 ABC CompetitionParnells entered 2 teams at last weekends All Britain Competition and we are delighted that both teams came away with silverware on the day.Parnells I successfully retained the ABC Cup with some quite brilliant displays of football. Drawn in Group B with St.Keirnans, St. Colmcilles, Tir Chonail Gaels and Heston Gaels, Parnells I won all games and did not concede a score until the final group match, a great fete for all in particular our defence. Progressing from the group to the semi finals, we played St. Josephs and after a tentative opening, Parnells asserted their authority on the game and a place in the final was never in doubt, winningthrough on a score of 5-07 to 1-02.The final would pit us against our great rivals Tara, with the match living up to all expectations in a game that had it all. Watched and cheered on by a large crowd, all were treated to an intense battle with only a single score separating the teams at the end. We would win on a scoreline of 3-02 to 2-02.Our commiserations to Tara who really put it up to us and we look forward to many more hard foughtmatches in the future. In the 6 games played during the day, 12 out of our 13 player squad would score, with each playercontributing enormously to our success and all of us involved with the club are extremely proud of their efforts. Captain Beanón Corrigan would receive the cup from GAA President Aodan O'Fearghail, and he was ably assisted by Eddie Morrissey, Aidan Doran, Matthew Sheridan, Conor Moran, Darragh Griffin, Patrick Murphy, Ronan Hutchins, Harry Grey, Seamus Curry, Luke Keane, DanielRossiter and Kenny Walsh throughout the day. A huge well done boys!Parnells II also had a successful ABC taking home the Plate.  Drawn in Group C alongside Dulwich Harps,Glen Rovers, Tara II and Tir Chonail Gaels II they gave a really good account of themselves playing attractive football all day. In fact they would give Dulwich an almighty scare, who went on to contest  the cup semi final, bringing the game to them before narrowly losing out in the last few minutes of the game. The remaining group matches were closely fought affairs, with only a score or 2 separating eachteam. The final group positions saw us straight into the Plate final were we would play a galant RoundTowers team. Moving the ball around well we would run out winners by a scoreline of 4-03 to 0-02. Again we had a squad of 13 players, 2 of whom also represent Parnells at U10, all contributing massivelyto the teams success. Captain on the day, Pearse Kerr, would accept the Plate from GAA President Aodan O'Fearghail with thanks to Gearóid Moore, Shane Curry, Harry Lyons, Patrick o'Brien, Jamie Logan,Evan Gibbons, Calum Walsh, Liam Duncan, Joseph O'Brien, Jamie Okoli, Conor Griffin and Declan Doran.Congratulations boys from all at Parnells.

Under 14s

Another superb display of football by these boys both teams reached the final but sadly beaten on both occassions by a point, no matter a huge congratulations to these boys.

Under 16s

These boys played their hearts out reaching the final and again bringing home the silverware, the boys are proving themselves to be a formidable team, with these lads the future of Gaelic football in London is looking bright

Girls

The morning started off with the U14s playing in a competitive two grouped affair. They started fantastically comfortably beating Claddagh Gaels in group 1, only for the result be wiped and the two groups re-jigged, due to a team not turning up in group 2.
The revised groups meant the girls played TCG twice and St Clarets, winning 1,drawing 1 & losing 1. Leaving us second in the group and out . The girls played some great football and but for a few 'decisions' going against them would have more to show for their efforts. The majority of this side is 12  or younger so time is on their side.

The afternoon was for the U12s which combined those new from the Gaelic4Girls programme. In a non competitive / development format, the Parnell's girls performed heroically winning all five matches convincingly. Special mention to Ava,Connie, Ruby,Olivia and Ellie who all played their first matches and did themselves proud.

All in all a very good display by all the Parnell's girls and on another day we would be 'bringing home the bacon' but it wasn't to be.
Some great football was played by all the girls involved and if we can keep the momentum going , the future looks good for Parnell's girls.  "
