Éire Óg London GFC club notes

July 03, 2015

Last Thursday we took on Shalloe Pearse in the Mularkey Cup quarter final in Greenford. The game got underway as the sun was starting to set over Greenford. The management team made several changes as they looked at their options for the Championship next week. The first half was a scrappy affair with both teams cancelling each other's scores out. The half time score was five point each.

The lads came in at half time and had a chat amongst themselves. It was clear to see they wanted the win and to progress to the semi-final. Some stern words were spoken and it seemed the penny had dropped. Shalloe could not cope with us in the second half. We noticed up 1-10 in the second period. There was some great scores from Trevor Draper, John Bradley, Conor Nilan and Sean Allen calmly slotted home a penalty. A special mention must go to our keeper Dan Gleeson and his defence for a solid performance and clean sheet.

We face Crawley and Brighton and Gaels in the semi-final. It is great to see London's to newest clubs progressing to the semi-final. The winner will go on to play either Tir Chonaill Gales or St Clarets in the final.
