Harlesden Harps club notes

June 30, 2015

Upcoming Fixture
Harlesden Harps begin their Shiels Cup campaign against St Brendan's this evening, Tuesday 30/06/15, at 19:30 in Greenford. This game will be a chance for players to push hard for places in the upcoming championship and also to build on their unbeaten start to the league campaign. Please ensure you are at the venue in plenty of time to prepare properly for the match. Claire, our physio, will also be present to help with any niggles or strains players may have.
Cara Stationary League Match
Harlesden Harps continued their league campaign with a frustrating draw with St Joseph's on Thursday, 25/06/15, on a 1-08 to 1-08 scoreline. A lacklustre start was punished by the Joe's who went 1-02 to 0-00 up inside the first five minutes of the game. However, the Harps wrestled control of the game around the midfield sector for the middle quarters of the game outscoring their opponents and putting themselves into a winning position going into the final quarter. There was some fine point taking on show mixed with a clinical goal from the ever reliable left boot of Peter Rafferty. However, the Joe's managed to finish strongly and scored the equaliser with a few minutes remaining to leave the scoreline even at the end. Thanks to all who came along and the team needs to learn to close out games more effectively to get the correct result in the future.
Senior Training
Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:45pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). New players are always welcome to this well run club which if needed can offer good jobs, accommodation and a social life to their members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged. Most evenings Claire, our physio, will be present to help with any niggles or strains players may have.
Bernie McManamon and Joe Lynch oversee training for the year and would encourage anyone wanting to be involved in a positive and fun training environment to contact any of the numbers or links below. An exciting year of football in London ahead.
