Football training continues for U8 boys (P3 & P4) and U10 boys (P5 & P6) from 7.00 > 8.00 pm on Thursday (17th) evening. The U10 boys are also out this Saturday (19th) morning at a blitz (details TBC).

The U12 boys played Moortown at home last Wednesday (9th). They put on a good display of football for 45 minutes. The wide open field allowed both teams to play some good flowing football, despite referee Martin Russell, giving us nothing! Moortown are a good side with great ability to move the ball. Killeeshil covered well at the back and were potent upfront. In the end the young Hoops had a comfortable win. This U12 squad then travelled to the Moy on Saturday(12th) morning for their annual tournament. Our 2 teams of 8-a-side played 4 matches each with wins against Carrickmore, Armagh Harps and the Rock, gaining them 9 points and allowing them to compete in the Plate. Our boys all put in a good shift on the day. The standard of football by all teams played was excellent. This U12 panel are quite a talented group and were up there with the best of them in this tournament. However, things came to an abrupt halt just after the lunch time restart, due to an accident. The organisers sent everybody home. The day did not reach it's natural conclusion. Please God the injured party will make a speedy and full recovery. The U12 boys have a match at home against Galbally on Thursday evening - all players meet at field at 6.30 pm sharp. The U12s also have a tournament this Saturday (12th) in Errigal Ciaran.

Girls U8 (P3 and P4) and U10 (P5 and P6) training continues this Wednesday (16th) from 6 > 7 pm.

Our U12 girls play away to Omagh in their second last game on Tuesday the 15th at 7:15 pm. Training will continue next Tuesday 22nd at 6 pm.

The U16 girls have a league match Tuesday (15th) v Carrickmore in Killeeshil at 6.30 pm. All support is much appreciated.

Our U16 lads were beaten by a strong Moy side in Moy on Monday (14th) evening. Their next game is at home v Aghaloo on Friday (18th) evening.

The senior girls played Carrickmore last Thursday (10th), in a game they needed to win to boost their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the league. Carrickmore settled into the game a little quicker than our girls and got a couple of early scores on board but once our girls got to the pace of the game, we began to get on top. Our defence included Sarah Millar and the Mulgrew sisters, Emma and Orla kept the Carrickmore forwards at bay. Ursula McGhee and Grainne Rafferty were getting through alot of good work, up and down the pitch. The forwards started hitting some nice scores with Genevieve Scullion very much to the fore. Niamh McCool was also working hard and creating good scoring chances for the others forwards. Half time score: Killeeshil 2-7, Carrickmore 0-4. The second half began with our girls hitting some nice scores, with Grainne Rafferty scoring the best of these. As the half went on and both teams running the benches adding fresh legs, our girls pushed on and got the scores needed to secure the needed victory. Final score Killeeshil 3-15, Carrickmore 1-7.

Last Saturday (12th) evening, our senior men travelled to Loughmacrory to face Drumquin in the First Round of the Junior Championship. Our lads were fast out of the blocks in the first half as a goal in the 8th minute put us into a 1-2 to 0-2 lead. This goal seemed to spur Drumquin into action as they dominated the rest of the first half, to lead 2-10 to 1-2 at half time. Credit must go to our lads and their manager Damian Hoy, because despite being 11 points down, we came out in the second half like a new team, we battled and fought gallantly for every ball, managing to close the gap to 2 points with a few minutes remaining. However a couple of late Drumquin points, saw them emerge victorious on a final scoreline off = Killeeshil 3-10 Drumquin 3-14. The lads are training this week on Tuesday (15th) & Friday (18th) at 7.30 pm.

Good luck to club stalwart Earl Gormley, who gets married to former Tyrone senior ladies goalie, Hayley Boyle this Friday (18th). Earl has over 30 years experience as a tight marking defender, who always protected his goalie, so Hayley you are in safe hands. Everyone in the club wishes Earl & Hayley a terrific day on Friday & a long, happy life together.

Last Wednesday, the 9th of August was a proud day for our club, as Matthew McCusker, Tomas Hoy, Cormac Donaghy, Louis Conlon and Daniel Millar and their Tyrone U17 teammates defeated Meath in the All-Ireland U17 Football Championship Semi-Final in Kingspan Breffni Park. Congratulations to the whole panel & well done on qualifying for the All Ireland Final, which will take place in Croke Park on Sunday, the 27th of August.

Our thoughts and prayers are with any families in the area who are dealing with illness in their family at this time.
