Peter Donnelly has revealed how the opportunity to assist his native Tyrone was too difficult to turn down.

The 2005 and '08 All-Ireland winner has been appointed as the Red Hands' new strength and conditioning coach after fulfilling a similar role with Cavan for the past six years.

In a statement, the Coalisland man said: "After six immensely enjoyable and memorable years in Cavan, I have decided to move on.

"It has been a privilege to work with the elite players, managers, coaches, administrators and medical teams within Cavan GAA. However, the desire for my own county and the opportunity to devote more time to my wife, family, friends and club has enticed me home to the Red Hand County.

"Many thanks to everyone with Cavan GAA for their support, commitment and friendship throughout. I'm looking forward to the next step."
