Justin McMahon's comeback from injury took another step in the right direction over the weekend.

The injury-plagued defender was on the bench for Tyrone's last two games of the national football league and he showed his quality at club level as he got to grips with former county colleague Owen Mulligan during Omagh's 5-10 to 1-11 victory over Cookstown.

The younger McMahon sibling seems to have recovered from his hamstring trouble and is looking good to feature for Tyrone in their May 18th Ulster opener against Down.

Meanwhile, Joe McMahon - who has recovered from a long-term groin problem - has been ruled out of action for a couple of weeks after sustaining a calf strain during the warm-up with his club. But he too is expected to be available for the Down game.

O'Neill County boss Mickey Harte will also have been encouraged by the performances of Conor McAliskey and Conor Gormley for Clonoe and Carrickmore respectively over the weekend.
