Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

September 26, 2016

Our girls U14 footballers championship run came to an end at the semi-final stage last Monday evening when they put up a spirited display against St Mary's at Kent Park before Mary's ran out winners in the end.

There was disappointment too for our U16 footballers the same evening they were beaten 3-3 to 1-5 by Tourlestrane in the championship.

Our boys U13 footballers enjoyed a comprehensive 6-9 to 2-3 victory away to Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in the Féile league on Sunday. Playing in difficult underfoot conditions, the teams were level at half-time but a strong start to the second half by DRP saw us pull clear to win. The result means the U13s top their group and progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

The senior men's footballers are still awaiting confirmation of a date for their Division 2 league final against either Geevagh or Bunninadden. Mid-October looks likely.

Preparations are well underway for the club's gala night of the year: A Boston Tea Party on Friday, November 11th in the Radisson Blu Hotel. It promises to be a very enjoyable event with tickets priced at €20 per person. We are currently 'recruting' table hosts for the night. If you are interested in hosting a table, please call 0876855621 or see our Facebook page.

Our U6 and U7 GAA nursery blitz with St Mary's had to be called off last Saturday because of the inclement weather. Normal coaching hours continue this Saturday morning in Oxfield with U6 training at 9:45, U8 and U10 at 10:30am.
