Tourlestrane club notes

September 14, 2015

Our Senior Men play won the Divison 1 League Final on Saturday evening in Markievicz Park when they overcame Tubbercurry on a scoreline of 0-16 to 0-12. The team lead by a single point at the interval, on score of 0-7 to 0-6, but a strong second half performance ensured the team ran out victorious.Team captain Diarmuid Dunne accepted the cup on behalf of the team after the game. Well done to the team and management.

Our Junior B team have advanced to the Junior B final following a strong second half performance against St. Mary's. St. Mary's started stronger with quick scores coming from frees and a long range shot dropping in over David O Hara head for a St. Marys goal inside 15 minutes of the first half. Tourlestrane defense turned over the ball numerous times and this lead to a goal from Eoghan Fleming before the half time whistle. Half time score was 2-2 to 1-5. Rian Kennedy pointed 3 frees off the ground in the second half, along with a goal and a point from Shane Dunne and a goal from substitute Daniel Clarke. Austin O Hara replaced injured David O Hara in goals and could not stop a powerful St. Marys penalty late on in the game. The game finished on a scoreline of 3-12 to 3-4.
Team: David O Hara, Shane Neary, Darren Leonard, Niall Durkin, Richie Lang, Colm McVeigh, John Paul Lang, Kenny Gavigan, James Curley, Shane Dunne, Rian Kennedy, Austin O Hara, Eoghan Fleming, Ciaran Walsh, Niall Brennan - Subs Used: Daniel Clarke, Barry Brennan, Enda Kelly, Conor Walsh, Barry Kirrane

Hard luck to our U-16 Hurling team and management who lost the Cup Final on Saturday in the Sligo Centre of Excellence in Scarden.

Hard luck to our Minor Boys team and management who went down to St. Farnan's in the semi final of the Minor A Championship last night. The team never gave up and came back from a 7 point deficit but time ran out. Final score from St. Farnan's was 3-08 to 1-15. Wishing Liam Gaughan a speedy recovery after he picked up a injury in the early stages of the

game.
