Niall Carew expressed his disappointment with the Off the Ball pundits on Newstalk Radio for dismissing Sligo's chances against Tyrone.

Despite losing to the Red Hands by seven points on Saturday, Carew's charges managed to restore some pride after their 26-point mauling by Mayo in the Connacht SFC final.

"I would have been very disappointed and the way they disregarded Sligo in their chat last Thursday," the Kildare man said.

"I like the show, but not the disrespect they showed our boys.

"There's no problem coming and doing interviews with Adrian Marren or myself and then they just said 'everyone knows Sligo are going to get hammered so we won't bother talking about them'. That's exactly what they said."

The Sligo manager continued: "I know the media have a job to do, but you have to realise Sligo has a population of about 62,000 people.

"I just think it is bad taste and without Sligo competing they wouldn't have a job. They need to learn and stop being… I think 'smart' is the word."
