Anton Sullivan is facing the prospect of missing Rhode's Offaly SFC semi-final against Clara on Sunday week and a potential final on October 11 after being proposed for a one-month ban by Offaly's CCC.

The county star was reported by Walsh Island referee Pat Gallagher for verbal abuse during a recent minor championship game between Rhode and Na Fianna. Sullivan was managing the Rhode team that lost the MFC 'B' quarter-final by 0-9 to 1-11.

The army man told the Tullamore Tribune that he was leaving the decision over whether or not to appeal the sanction to his club.

Sullivan's case mirrors that of top hurling referee Brian Gavin who was cleared to take charge of last month's All-Ireland SHC semi-final between Kilkenny and Waterford after being proposed for a one-month ban by the Offaly CCC for alleged verbal abuse of fellow match official Pauric Pierce during a junior football championship game involving his club Clara.
