Offaly football captain Paul McConway is facing up to a year on the sidelines after rupturing his cruiate knee ligament.

McConway, who skippered the Faithful to an Allianz League Division 4 success in April, suffered the injury during Tullamore's recent Offaly SFC group game against Edenderry. The full back will miss the Blues' semi-final rematch with Edenderry on Sunday week, September 27.

McConway will undergo surgery soon before embarking on the long road to recovery.
