Hurling Champions
Both our senior and junior hurlers started their championship last weekend with our seniors going down by a point to St Rynagh's in a very entertaining game in Moystown on Sunday 1:14 to 2: 10. Then our juniors had a great afterwards away to Edenderry  5:13 to 2:05

Minor Hurling
The minor hurlers started their year off with a defeat to neighbours Shamrocks in the league on a lovely spring evening in Rahan. The team played well in patches and with a scattering of U16s through the team, Shamrocks were far to strong in the end. One plus from the game was the performance of the Tullamore fullback Aaron Leavy who had an outstanding game.
Tullamore minors lost to Ballinamere in the 2nd Rd of the league on a score line of 2-09 to 1-06. In what was a much better performance from their last outing in the league it wasn't good enough to overcome our near neighbours. A bigger attendance is needed in training if the team is to improve. Training every Tues & Fridays nights @ 6-30

U12 hurlers

On a hot Spring evening, Thursday 9th April the Tullamore U12 Hurling team travelled to Rahan to face a good Shamrocks side in their first outing of the year. In a hard-fought entertaining match the young Blues came away with a fantastic win.

All 20 players got plenty of game time with rolling subs throughout the match. Starting in goals Ben Hensey was impenetrable. Cian Wynne and Diarmuid Egan were solid in the full back line showing great defensive skills and some classy touches Shane Dooley would be proud of. In the half back line the superb Daire McDaid and Adam Kelly battledhard for possession all evening with Adam showing great striking off both sides scoring three well deserved points.

The great John Furlong and Cormac Egan ran the show at midfield winning plenty of possession and showing superb skills and touch. Furlong could have had a few goals on the evening when moved in closer to goal but was happy to come away with one, a rocket that shook the net in the second half. Egan came away with a point himself which was more than deserved for the effort he put in for his teammates.

Up front Luke Burke, Corey Hayes and Evan Fitzpatrick all showed great potential for lads just up from U10s. Evan "The Sharpshooter" Fitzpatrick came away with 2-2 from the game. Cullen Boland was a real leader in the forwards with some great ground hurling skills on display.

Keelin Cuskelly pulled off saves in the second half that Davy Fitz would be proud of. The Grace Brothers, William and Thomas, are showing great promise and both hurled extremely well. With Ben Hensey, Niall O'Sullivan, Ben McConville and Samuel Akinsulire all hurling well it freed up some space for Seán Monaghan and Fionán Redmond to gain plenty of possession and supply the forwards with quality ball. The team showed great fight and determination to keep the opposition score down especially near the end of the game with Shamrocks attacking in waves.

Congratulations to our very own John Ward who won the Leinster and All Ireland U12 Boxing Championship in his category last week. John is both an ambassador for all that's good about the GAA with his club and his school, ScoilBhríde.

The team management of Seán McCann, Mark Kelly and Martin Kelly would like to thank all the parents who came along to support this great group of lads.
