DIVISION 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEMI FINAL
Raheen Junior Footballers followed the lead of their Intermediate counterparts by also qualifying for their respective League Final as they came out on top in the parish derby Div 4 Semi Final against Ballinagar last Friday evening in Walsh Island on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-08. Raheen got off to a great start as they opened the scoring with the first 4 points without reply inside 10 mins, the last an overhead volley from Eoghan Bolton. Ballinagar then got off the mark as both sides added a point apiece before the decisive moment of the game came on 18 mins when Raheen were awarded a penalty as Garrett Garry was brought down by the keeper. Danny McEvoy stepped up to take it and he made no mistake as he blasted the ball to the right corner of the net. A further point apiece followed before Ballinagar added another just on the stroke of half time to leave it 1-06 to 0-04 at the break. Ballinagar improved in the second half as they scored the first 2 points to cut the lead to the goal. Raheen then put over what would be their only point of the second half mid way through from Danny McEvoy which was replied to a few mins later by a point for Ballinagar and this is how it remained until the last min when Ballianagar's Michael James Pierce slotted over a free to leave just 2 in it and they had a great chance to steal it with a goal in stoppage time when Gary Martin almost got in to shoot but his effort was blocked and cleared and so Raheen held on to claim the win.

DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL
Raheen Intermediate Footballers clinched their's and the club's first and hopefully not the last piece of silverware this year as they were crowned Division 2 League Champions regaining the the title they last won in 2010 as they easily brushed aside the challenge of neighbours Walsh Island in the Final with a powerful second half display last Sunday morning in O'Connor Pk, Tullamore on a scoreline of 2-18 to 0-11. Raheen opened the scoring straight from the throw in with a point from Richie Reynolds but from the kickout Walsh Island got off the mark with a point from Alan Mulhall and they then added 5 more points to Raheen's 1. Raheen needed a break to get back into it and they duly got it in the 19th min when a kickout was worked back in through Brian Crombie to Padraig Bracken to Ben Ridgeway to Richie Reynolds in the square who shot low to the right corner of the net for Raheen's 1st goal. The remainder of the half saw Raheen add 4 more points to Walsh Island's 3 and so the break the sides were level 1-06 to 0-09. The game was effectively decided in the first 10 mins of the second half as Raheen blitzed Walsh Island with 7 points in a row to tear ahead. The next 15 mins saw Walsh Island add 2 pointed frees their only scores of the second half but sandwiched in between were 4 more points for Raheen to edge even further ahead. Then in the 27th min came the icing on the cake when super sub Dylan Hyland who had already scored 3 and assisted 3 points kicked a spectacular lobb over his marker's head to pick out the in-running Brian Crombie who found himself in the clear with just the keeper to beat who he cheekily chipped the ball over and into the net for goal no 2. Raheen wrapped it up with the final point in stoppage time from Paddy Rigney before the final whistle was blown when there were great scenes of delight as joint Raheen captains Padraig Bracken and Paddy Rigney were presented with the Tom Bracken Memorial Cup by Offaly Chairman Padraig Boland.

Na Fianna then added 5 points to K/K's 1 before K/K got right back into it on 23 mins when a breakaway move saw get through to score their goal but this was wiped out as Na Fianna finished out the half with another 4 points in a row to lead at the break by 1-11 to 1-07.K/K staged a slight recovery at the start of the second half as they put over the first 3 points but this was again well wiped out as Na Fianna struck for 2 goals to end K/K's comeback hopes, the first Reece Seery made a run in from the wing before passing to David Buckley who blasted his shot to the net, the second on 7 mins a line ball by Ian Buckley was worked in to Reece Seery in the square who dummied his first shot before flicking the ball to the net with his second. Na Fianna then added 2 more points to K/K's 1 and what would be their last score. Then midway through the half Na Fianna struck another 2 goal salvo, the first dispatched by David Buckley, the second by Stephen Pierce who fired his shot across the goal to the left corner of the net.
