Fermanagh manager Pete McGrath believes that his charges will be up to the task of facing Monaghan in the 2017 Ulster SFC.

The sides have been drawn in the preliminary round of the provincial campaign in a repeat of last year's semi-final which Monaghan won.

McGrath is adamant though that there is little between the sides, despite the success that the Farney County have had in recent years.

And the former Down manager told the Fermanagh Herald that he welcomed the fact that they didn't have to wait too long between the end of the league and the start of the championship.

"It's a tough enough draw needless to say," said McGrath. "Monaghan have been a team near the top of Ulster this past number of years. But it's a challenge, you know what you have to do.

"One good thing is we don't have a long wait between the end of the league and the start of the championship. You're right into it almost and hopefully we'll have a bit of momentum by that stage."
