FIXTURES.

With Monaghan not in action now until the weekend of August 8th in the All Ireland quarter-final, the club scene continues apace over the next week starting this evening Thursday, August 23rd with the semifinals of the senior hurling championship, followed by the finals in divisions 1 and 2 of the under 21 football league tomorrow evening Friday, August 24th. Then on Sunday there are four games in the universal graphics sponsored Junior football championship, there are semi finals in some of the reserve football league competitions and Tuesday next, July 28th it is also semi-final time in divisions 2 and 3 in the minor football championship.

U21 FL.

It's a south Monaghan affair in the final of division 1 of the under 21 football league with Donaghmoyne meeting Magheracloone in Killanny tomorrow evening Friday, August 24th at 7:45 PM. The division two final takes place in Cremartin, also tomorrow evening, where Carrickmacross will meet Emyvale with that game also scheduled for a 7:45 PM start.

The club scene this weekend though is dominated by the Universal Graphics sponsored Junior football championship with four games being played in two double bills on Sunday. The first of those is in Castleblayney on Sunday afternoon where Killanny meet Scotstown at 1:30 PM and Oram take on next door neighbours Toome at 3 PM. Later on Sunday evening, in Scotstown, Aghabog meet Rockcorry at 5:30 PM with Killeevan and Blackhill getting under way at 7.00 PM.

In the reserve league competitions things are coming to the final stages with the semi finals in divisions 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B this weekend starting with the division 1A semi-final tomorrow evening Friday between Truagh and Latton in Truagh at 7:45 PM. The division 1B semi-final takes place on Saturday between Castleblayney and Ballybay in Castleblayney also at 7:45 PM, while on Sunday, Sean McDermotts are at home against Donaghmoyne in the division 2A semi-final at 2.00 PM and in division 3 Monaghan Harps will enjoy home advantage in their game against Aghabog, following their victory over Clones on Monday evening last, that game also at 2.00PM. The semi-final of the reserve football league division 2B between Corduff and Blackhill takes place on Wednesday next July 29th at 7:30 PM in Corduff.

UNIVERSAL GRAPHICS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Barring draws two more teams will exit the Junior football championship this weekend as it is sudden death in the two games in round 2B, Killanny V Scotstown and Oram versus Toome as all four have already suffered a defeat in an earlier round, so it's the last chance saloon in Castleblayney on Sunday afternoon. The other two games that are being played in round 2A see semi-final places awaiting the winners between Aghabog and Rockcorry, which at this stage looks like the match of the day, and Killeevan and Blackhill, while the losers will still have a second chance in the back door element.

SILVER HILL FOODS SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS.

Sunday, August 9th has been fixed for the final of the Silver Hill Foods senior hurling championship and barring a replay the pairing for that final should be known after Thursday evening's semifinals. Inniskeen who contested the final last year and won the senior hurling championship the year before take on Truagh in Gavin Duffy at 7:45 PM and would look to have too much strength in depth, although Truagh, who reached the final of the Development Hurling league this year could cause a surprise. The other semi-final could well be a very close affair between the reigning champions Castleblayney HC and Carrickmacross HC, the latter racking up a total of 3-16 in their quarter-final victory over Monaghan Harps but C'Blayney are the championship specialists And will not be easily beaten. That second semi-final is in Clontibret, starting at 7:45 PM
