AIB ULSTER CLUB JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Castleblayney HC v Na Magha (Derry); Dungannon: Sunday October 26th @ 2.30pm.

This Sunday Castleblayney are back in O'Neill Park, Dungannon, as they seek their second Ulster junior hurling club championship title when they take on Derry champions, Na Magha at 2.30 p.m.. If Castleblayney can produce the form they showed in their thrilling victory over Con Magee's, Glenravel, Antrim, in their semi-final back on Sunday, October 12th then they will be taking silver ware back across the border with them come Sunday evening. Castleblayney last won the Ulster club Junior hurling championship title back in 1995, the first team from Monaghan to win the newly formed competition with Inniskeen the most recent club to have taken the title to the County when they took the honours back in 2010.

FIXTURES.

The club season in Monaghan is building to an exciting finish with the semi finals in the senior and intermediate football league also still to come. In the senior football league Ballybay and Clontibret are already through to the semi finals and this weekend the O'Neills are down to face Currin on Friday evening but as Currin conceded their most recent game to Doohamlet Clontibret may well get a break here that would help their preparations for the Ulster club championship game with St Gall's in Clones on Sunday week. There are three senior football league games on this Saturday but with relegation already decided the only matter of importance now is the two remaining semi-final places. This weekend sees five games in the intermediate football league two of which have significant importance, the meeting of Corduff and Clones in Corduff could well decide who tops the league, a point would be sufficient for Corduff but should Clones lose and other results go a certain way then they could find themselves in third or even fourth place. The other issue in the intermediate league is the final round match between relegation candidates Cremartin and Sean McDermotts, a game that effectively now is a relegation play-off to see who makes the drop along with Rockcorry to junior ranks next season. The final of the Junior football league meanwhile will be between Aughnamullen and Blackhill following their victories over Toome and Killanny respectively last weekend. That game has been fixed for Sunday, November 2nd at a venue yet to be confirmed but that date does clash with the big Ulster club championship double bill in Clones, Clontibret v St. Galls and Inniskeen v Cootehill.

HURLING.

In hurling meanwhile it's a big day for Castleblayney HC as they take on Derry champions Na Magha in the final of the Ulster club Junior hurling championship as they attempt to take their second title and the Derry lads are out to make amends for losing in the final in 2012.
