Intermediate Championship
Our senior footballers got off to a good start in this year's Championship campaign with what can only be described as a hard fought gritty win against Sean McDermotts last Sunday evening in Clontibret.
On a wet evening the game got of to a blistering start in the opening ten minutes with both teams registering points, however we failed to capitalize on the majority of the possession and where guilty of missing a penalty and 3 very kickable points in quick succession.
Sean's kept hanging in there none the less, however points from Paul Meegan and Robbie Lorenz took us into the break winning with a very low score line of 0-04 to 0-03.
The second half started along the same lines as the first ended with both teams struggling to breakdown each other's blanket defense.
A couple of quick points from Ronan and Paul Meegan stretched the lead to 3 points.
Although Sean's pulled another back, the killer blow arrived at the midpoint in the half when Michael Lennon popped up with a goal that put some breathing space between the teams.
Inniskeen piled on the pressure after that and as the weather cleared up, we went on to register a flurry of points from Robbie Lorenz, Colm, Paul and Donal Meegan.
We ended the game with a winning score line of 1-11 to 0-05, and will now face the winners of Rockcorry/Clones who drew last time out.
It's looking like Sunday the 7th of September for that outing so put it in the diary.

U15 Floodlit Football blitz
Our U15 boys entered the 14 team tournament last Thursday in the Monaghan U15 Floodlit blitz.
We came out of a tough group in top spot and went on to beat Doohamlet in the semi final.
The Young Grattan's swept Aughnamullen aside in the final and now go on to represent Monaghan at Ulster level.
Well done to the boys along with Mentors Aiden, Barry and Jimmy as it was a great performance by all.
