Minors:
They must do it all again! After ending level at full time Corduff & Killeevan have to meet again this evening Thursday in the replay of the Div 3 Minor Football Championship Semi-Final. On Tuesday last week Killeevan opened the scoring in the 9th minute closely followed by the first Corduff score. Both teams were even by the 21st minute on a score line of 1-04 each. Corduff dominated the 2nd quarter and by the interval Corduff were ahead by 2 points. Killeevan were off the mark early in the second half registering a point. Although the pace and intensity of the game picked up Corduff failed to score until the 17th minute. Once again the sides were level for the second time on a score line of 1-08. It was point for point in the last 10 minutes giving the spectators a very exciting ending so it was no surprize that at the final whistle Corduff & Killeevan were level for the 4th time setting up a replay. This evening, Thursday all roads lead to Drumhowan for the replay with throw-in @ 7pm so come out and show your support for Adrian, Ciaran, Jason, John and the team. Nothing beats being there!
Seniors:
The Intermediate Championship season takes pride of place this weekend with Corduff playing Cremartin on Saturday evening in O'Neill Park Clontibret.
Corduff and Cremartin are no strangers having had some tight encounters in recent years. Corduff should be confident enough having shown good form so far in The Monaghan Electric Intermediate League. However there will be no room for complacency with both teams keeping an eye on victory. A focused, determined effort will be needed to get over the line. Manager Seamus McEnaney and his backroom team and the players are wished good luck and hopefully the big effort all year will pay off on Saturday. Throw in is at 5:30pm on Saturday and we call on all Corduff supporters to come out and support your Senior team.
Ladies:
U16 Semi-Final:
Corduff played Inniskeen in the U16 Semi-Final last Thursday. An under strength team fielded for this match. Without some of the regulars this was going to be a challenge. Inniskeen dominated the first half with Corduff only registering a point in the latter stages. Corduff came back into the game with a great effort in the 2nd half by actually outscoring Inniskeen that half. However Inniskeen had the work done in the first half easing to a victory at full time. Well done to the girls on a good 2nd half performance.
U14 Championship:
Corduff had a bye in the first round last Monday but are away to St. Brigid's this Monday August 18th.
Monaghan Ladies:
Congratulations to Barbara Ward and the County team & Management on a victory against Tyrone last Saturday setting up a meeting with Galway on Sat August 23rd.
