Cathal Wall celebrates his late goal for Boardsmill against Blackhall Gaels at Longwood

The second round of the Meath hurling championship has come to a close. Sweltering conditions prevailed and once again Kiltale were the masters of Killyon. Dunboyne and Kildalkey got back on track with massive wins and once more Trim came good in the final ten minutes to record their second win. Here's our best XV from round 2.

Stephen Quinn (Killyon): Once again produced a string of fine saves and gave an assured performance in the defeat to Kiltale.

Cathal Wall (Boardsmill): A fine display topped by a goal in the dying minutes as the 'Mill nearly caused an upset against Blackhall Gaels on a sunny Saturday at Longwood.

Johnny Meyler (Blackhall Gaels): Another no-nonsense display from the Gaels defender. Boardsmill would have recorded a surprise win were it not for his heroic defending at Longwood.

Ryan Andrews Trim: A hugh influence around the edge of the square especially in the second half as Trim came good to record their second win in the championship.

Calvin Ryan (Killyon): Started in the forwards before being moved to wing back early on - scored two points from there and defended stoutly.

Stephen Donoghue (Kiltale): Consistency must be this man's middle name as he continues to impress in a central role and his reading of the game is second to none.

Kevin Reilly (Kilmessan): 'Kesha' was the best player on view at Trim. Has outstanding pace, is superb at reading the game and loves going forward. Scored four brilliant points from the half back line in that win over Clann na nGael.

Alan Douglas Trim: Once again prominent as Trim upped their game in the latter stages. The county footballer hit two great points in that Monday night win over Longwood at Kildalkey.

James Kelly (Kiltale): Every team needs a player to track back and work hard. Kelly has added a new dimension to his game and along with the three points he scored from play, popped up everywhere to link defence and attack.

Evan Fitzgerald (Kildalkey): The leading player as the 'Village' easily accounted for a depleted Dunderry. The county minor notched 1-7 in that 30 point win at O'Growney Park.

Karl Ennis (Longwood): A constant thorn in the Trim rearguard. Scored three wonderful points and took the fight to the 'town' for the hour in that narrow loss at Kildalkey.

Eamonn MacDonnachadh (Clann na nGael): Gave Kilmessan a torrid time over the hour in the sweltering conditions at Lomans Park. Hit nine points out of his team total of 1-14.

Seanie Doyle (Kilmessan): An exceptional display from the Kilmessan forward. Started at number 14 but spent the majority of the game roaming around the middle sector. Hit 1-4 in that second half comeback against Clann na nGael.

Ross Ryan (Kiltale): A return to form after a quiet outing against Kildalkey. Scored 0-4 from play and was a constant thorn in the Killyon defence.

Sean Quigley (Dunboyne): Any day a player scores 15 points in a championship game deserves to be on this team. Quigley was immense as Dunboyne saw off the Ratoath challenge with ease at Dunshaughlin.
