Drumree 3-13 Na Fianna 1-04

Drumree's passage to the Junior 2 HC Semi Final was guaranteed with this impressive victory over Na Fianna in a windswept St. Lomans Park on Sunday.

Drumree played with the wind in the 1st half & ran into a 5pt to 1 lead inside the 1st ten minutes thanks to the impressive duo of Liam Shanley & John 'The Craic' O'Callaghan who were causing the Na Fianna attack plenty of headaches early on. The 1st goal of the game came after 15 minutes with O'Callaghan raising the green flag after some good work at the back from Eoin Reilly. The half forward partnership of Craic, Rats & Shanners would be a thorn in Na Fianna's side all day with Craic & Shanners accounting for Drumree's entire 1st half tally of 1-07. Playing with the wind in the second half Na Fianna got instant joy with a goal after just 2 minutes from a 21 yard free however Drumree responded well with a point from David Dunne which was followed quickly by a second Drumree goal courtesy of that man O'Callaghan again with a sweet strike from the ground which rattled the roof of the net, giving the keeper no chance. This would bring his tally to 2-03 for the day….it's fair to say that say we won't hear the end of this for a few weeks!!

Drumree's pace all around the field was hard for the Na Fianna men to contain, the midfield partnership of David Dunne & Niall Murphy covered every blade of grass while the Curtis & James Rattigan were getting on a lot of ball also, James scored the final goal to close out proceedings as Drumree ran out 3-13 to 1-04 winners.

Man of the Match was John 'The Craic' O'Callaghan with Liam Shanley, David Dunne & Eoin Reilly also to the fore.
