A wonderful evening of finals in Dunganny

August 23, 2016

The dugouts in Dunganny are in the process of been built

If there was ever a night to prove the worth of Dunganny to Meath GAA it was certainly last night.

The Meath Centre of Excellence hosted six juvenile finals between 6.00 and 9.00pm. We estimate that well over 1,000 people attended the finals and they went off without a hitch. Plenty of car parking space, fenced off pitches, hot food, hot and cold drinks and ice cream were on offer to patrons paying an entrance fee of just €5 per car.

Dressing room space was at a premium and the venue will host its first ever senior hurling championship game between Kildalkey and Kilmessan on Thursday night.

When the dug outs are complete on all pitches Dunganny will be a massive addition to Meath GAA.

It was great to see two Meath legends watching their sons playing in the hurling finals. Sean Boylan kept a close eye on his youngest playing for Dunboyne in the Under 14 B Cup final against Dunderry while two pitches up Graham Geraghty watched his son and Clann Na nGael claim the Under 14 A Hurling Cup Shield title.

Trim proved that they were the masters of Meath Under 14 hurling when beating Killyon/Longwood in the Hurling Cup A final to go along with the Meath Feile and championship titles won earlier in the year.
