FL Div 2: No separating Castletown and Rathkenny

The points were shared in this very competitive game played in sweltering conditions on a perfect pitch in Castletown on Sunday. 

Castletown's senior opponents had the best of starts and were 3 points up after 10 minutes with points from James Macken, Caolach Halligan, Thomas Martin. Castletown then opened their account on 10 minutes with a point from Darren Finney. On 12 minutes Jack Gore sent over Rathkennys fourth point. Kevin Ross, James Finnerty and Ross again kicked over points to level it up with 22 minutes gone. 30 minutes into the game Castletown were 2 points ahead with further points from Barry Smith (2) and 1 each for Darren Finney and James Finnerty. But with 2 minutes of injury time at the end of the first half Rathkenny drew level with points from Brian Meade, Barney Lenehan, Caolach Halligan and Owen Elliott to leave it 8 points each at the break. 

The home side started the better in the second period and rallied to a 3 point lead on 35 minutes with scores from Kevin Ross, Barry Smith and Gerry Farrelly. Ivan Lenehan opened Rathkennys second half account but Castletown increased their lead to 4 points with points from Darren Finney and Barry Smith. Rathkenny then scored 3 in a row one each from Caolach Halligan, Brian Meade and Robert Garry. Owen Elliott then chipped in with a point on 55 minutes. With points from Darren Finney, Barry Smith and Kevin Ross Castletown were 1 point up with 58 minutes on the clock but the visitors then kicked 2 points in a row to be a point up before the last play which saw Kevin Ross point a free to level the match at 15 points each. 

This game had all for a local derby some fine scores and a great mix of defensive and attacking action as it should be .
