Ladies FL Div 2: 'Hill' down table toppers St Michaels

On a cold but dry Thursday evening, Summerhill Ladies lined out against table-toppers St. Michaels in the Division 2 League in Summerhill.

Summerhill started out the scoring with a point from Jenny Rispin however St. Michaels came back with 3 consecutive points at 3, 4, and 5 minutes. Goalkeeper Louise Dunne from the home team successfully caught two high balls both at 9 minutes however St. Michaels came back with a point. Niamh Crowe in blue and yellow scored 2 points from frees. This was followed with another 2 points from St. Michaels, and one for Ciara Daly of Summerhill. The tension was rising in the match and Marian Farrelly of the red and blacks netted with 5 minutes to go, this was not unanswered as Ciara Daly netted as well with 2 minutes till the half time whistle. Summerhill led at the break 1-6 to 1-4.

In the second half, the home team started out with scoring with two goals from Jenny Rispin, one after each other at 8 and 9 minutes into the 2nd half. Summerhill continued with two points from Laoise Devlin, St. Michael's one point, and after Niamh Crowe pointed a free from 30 yards out. The away team continued to fight and kicked over the bar. There was a flurry of goals, Julianne Scanlon in blue and yellow, Aoife Flattery and Leanne Lynch both from St. Michael's got one each. The Red and black's finished the scoring with a point to leave the full time score at 4:07 to 3:09 in Summerhill's favour.
