St.Pats Club Notes

September 25, 2015

Niall Mooney in action against Walterstown in the Relegation playoffs game 1 played in Seneschalstown.

Senior Football Championship In the Senior Football Championship relegation 3 teams faced in the playoffs St.Pats, Rathkenny & Walterstown. First fixture featured St.Pats v Rathkenny played in Paddy O'Brien Park (Brews Hill) Navan & sadly a defeat for the lads 1:15 (18) 2:07 (13). In game 2 played in Seneschalstown was the meeting of Walterstown & St.Pats, certainly a must win game for the Pats to remain any chance playing top level  senior football for 2016. The result seen St.Pats win by 4pts - 0:13pts to 0:9pts.  In the final game seen Rathkenny play Walterstown & a win for the black & red outfit would condemn Walterstown to Intermediate level & that is exactly what happened with Rathkenny wining 1:13 (16) to 9pts. Survival for St.Pats & Senior status for 2016.

Hurling League Relegation Final In the Hurling league relegation playoffs St.Pats were to face Wolfetones in the grounds of Kilmessan H.C. Unfortunately this game never took place with Wolfetones been awarded the win/pts. This now see's St.Pats drop a division from 2 to 3 for 2016.

Hurling Street Leagues New to St.Patricks was the Hurling Street leagues. The finals took place at the start of September. This involved teams picked across age groups based on where you live. The idea is that kids in the same locality will get to play on a team together and hopefully will encourage some to get the hurls out for a puck about outside of the club grounds. Teams were Gormanston Dragons, Gracemeadow Hawks, Gracemeadow Tigers, Forgehill Foxes, Kilbreck & Orchard Sharks & Stickmen. Based on numbers training teams were formed into 6 to 7 teams. Mentors were the refs for the street league also working with the kids on developing team play and their skills. Well done to all that took part in this event.

Juvenile & Minor Football In the opening rounds of the Minor Football Championship St.Pats faced Kilary Emmets at home  suffered a 1pt defeat on a scoreline of 3:06 (15) to 2:10 (16). U16 Summer League football final Division 5 St.Patricks met Ballinbrackey in Pairc Tailteann Navan. Having handing St.Pats the first defeat in the last round of the group stage St.Pats were aiming for revenge but again it just wasn't to be for the lads going down by 5pts. In the U14 Football Cup Div 4 semi final St.Pats met Kilmainhamwood & suffered defeat 6:06 (24) to 1:11 (14) away. In the first rd of the U13 Div 8 league St.Pats faced St.Peters/St.Pauls in Dunboyne & suffered defeat 5:12 to 4:06. U10 Intercounty Blitz St.Pats Gaa underage section held their first U10 Intercounty Blitz where visiting teams of Na Fianna, Skerries Harps, Ballymun Kickhams, Newry Shamrocks, St.Colmcilles & our own U10's participated in some great games of gaa. Split into 2 groups Panthers & Pumas. The format of each group consisted of 6 teams with each team drawn to play 3 games. On completion of the group stages the top 2 teams would compete in the Cup Final where the 3rd & 4th teams to compete in the Shield Final, finally 5th & 6th to compete in the Plate Final. The weather didn't do anyone any favors today but that didn't stop the games continuing. We hoped everyone enjoyed their visit to St. Patricks CLG with all footballers getting some quality games and enjoyed themselves. Well done to all the winners and commiserations to the runners up but the real winner today was "Gaa & Underage Football". Our thanks goes out to all teams, managers and mentors, families that traveled to support their teams and children. To our in house Referee's and match umpires for their continuous voluntary support. To our juvenile chairperson Gavin Kirby & all the organizers within St.Pats that took the time to steward and give the help on the day.
