Dunboyne's Keelan O'Connor with Aoife O'Neill Clann Na nGael during the JFC final at Paddy O'Brien Park

A little piece of history was created in Meath Ladies Football as over 1000 supporters descended on Paddy O'Brien Park to view three of the Coca-Cola Adult Club Championship Finals. This is the largest attendance at Meath Championship finals and supporters certainly played their part in cheering on their teams.

Dee Rangers 3-11 St Michaels 1-11

The Intermediate was a tightly contested final with the winner only decided five minutes from time when Becks Goodwin hit her third goal of the contest. Sinead McCormack was immense for St. Michaels but the Carlanstown/Kilbeg side will have to wait another year.

The teams were level at the break. Dee Rangers 2-5 St Michaels 1-8. Megan O'Brien kicked the games opening point but soon after Rebecca Goodwin got in for a fine individual goal to put the 2014 JFC winners in the driving seat. St Michaels hit back with a goal from Sharon Lynch Callaghan and held a 1-5 to 1-2 lead after 15 minutes. Five minutes later Dee Rangers were back in front thanks to a second Goodwin goal. Michaels rattled off three points in a row and the teams went in level at half time.

Oldcastle 0-10 St Ultans 0-10

The senior final was a titanic battle with St. Ultans leading the way throughout. A sin binning for Shauna Bennett in an epic second half that had a long injury time, gave Oldcastle the impetus to attack and while St. Ultans led by 0-8 to 0-3 at the break, Oldcastle fought back and at the end of injury time there was nothing between the teams, with Joanna Byrne's point enough to force a replay.

St Ultans controlled the opening half. Katie O'Brien was accurate from frees while veterans Elaine Duffy and Ger Doherty weighed in with two points each. Oldcastle had to rely on the free taking ability of Sarah O'Reilly for their opening half scores.

Duffy sent over her third point to extended Ultans lead early in the second half but they failed to score for the next 20 minutes. The outstanding Shauna Bennett received a yellow card and Oldcastle hit four points without reply from the impressive Nadine Wade (2), Sinead Coyle, and O'Reilly. Leslie Buchanan sent over St Ultans last score and it looked like they had done enough. But Oldcastle had other ideas. Substitute Eimear McEnroe reduced the gap to two, Emma Healy followed soon after and the lead was down to one. Oldcastle owned the ball at this stage and when Joanna Byrne sent over the equaliser it looked like Oldcastle were on their way to a first senior title. They had one more chance to win it but Bridgetta Lynch's shot was just wide.

Oldcastle scorers: Sarah O'Reilly 0-4, Nadine Wade 0-2, Sinead Coyle Joanna Byrne, Emma Healy and Eimear McEnroe 0-1 each.

St Ultans scorers: Katie O'Brien 0-4, Elaine Duffy 0-3, Ger Doherty 0-2, Leslie Buchanan 0-1.

Referee Colm McManus

Oldcastle and St. Ultans will have it all to do next Monday 28th at 8pm in St. Michaels, Carlanstown in the Senior Final replay.
