WALTERSTOWN 2-11 KILLARY EMMETS 0-13

AHEAD by seven points at one stage Killary Emmets eventually succumbed to Walterstown's second half revival in the MFC on Sunday morning.

Killary had the advantage of the breeze in the opening half and made good use of possession with a succession of points to open up a 0-8 to 0-1 lead by the 22nd minute.

Despite been outplayed for long spells Walterstown finished the half strongly and boosted by four successive points they cut the deficit to 0-9 to 0-5 by half-time.

Mark Kelly was in fine form for Killary during that dominant spell while Sean Clare converted two frees and Michael Fedigan, Eoin Lynch Duff and Cathal Dardis were also on target.

Walterstown hit the opening point of the second half and were level after Brian O'Connell grabbed possession and blasted to the net on 36 minutes.

Kelly converted a free to regain the lead for Killary but the hosts took control after that and they eventually forged into a five point lead by the 50th minute, 2-9 to 0-10.

Points from Kelly (two) and Michael Fedigan reduced the deficit to three in the closing minutes but the goal needed to level never materialised and it was Walterstown who finished on the front foot for a deserved win.
