AFL3: Drums lose in Dunderry as Skelly makes return

July 06, 2015

Drumconrath's Stephan Crosby

Drumconrath 0-12
Dunderry 1-10

Dunderry won this tightly contested round 10 of Division 3 A League in what was a tough week off the field for the club.

This victory scuppers Drums chances of a League Final appearance and puts the all important 2nd spot between Dunderry, Carnaross and Meath Hill to join Ballinabrackey in Division 2 next year.

A good scoring burst which seen the home side hit 1-2 between the 20th and 27th minutes of the 1st half was vital and while Drums hit back with two points Dunderry held a 1-5 to 0-5 half time lead.

Terry Skelly was introduced at the break as Drums battled hard for a win and while they hit the 1st two points of the half Dunderry were able to keep the lead and indeed led by 4 with time running out.

A 2nd yellow card to a Dunderry player gave the visitors hope and they hit the last 3 scores of the game and while they had a late chance to level the shot fell short and time ran out as Dunderry hung on to secure a vital win.
