June 28, 2015

Another win for the Ratoath hurlers.

Ráth Tó 3-12 Na Fianna 2-7

Ratoath's Junior hurlers kept their winning streak intact with a deserved win over Na Fianna on Saturday evening in Dunsany. The game struggled to get going early on with Ratoath 2 point to 0 in front after 15 minutes and both sides guilty of hitting numerous wides, The Enfield/Baconstown side soon settled and after getting their first point from a free they went on to grab a goal from a 21 yard free in the 18th minute .They went to get the next couple of points in their best spell of the match. Points from Conleth McClarnon and Aaron McDonald kept Ratoath competitive and  were only  a point behind when the referee blew the half time whistle-1-4 to 0-6 .

For the first 10 minutes of the second half Na Fianna continued to have the upper hand on the scoreboard and a goal in the 40th minute put them 4 points ahead. From then on it was all Ratoath as Podge Hanrahan's charges picked off some tremendous scores. A goal from a 21 yard free from Paul McDonnell was the catalyst and was soon followed by another goal this time from Roger Casey to put his team back in front. Further points ensued with McClarnon to the fore and it was he who grabbed the third goal in the 57th minute after a well worked team move  to put the result beyond doubt . Na Fianna did grab a late consolation point but it was too little too late as the Ratoath men ran out 8 point winners after a very satisfactory performance particularly in the second half.
