St. Patricks - 21st Century Gaa
11 years ago it was just a dream but today its a reality & possibly an envious moment for all other clubs in Meath & beyond. Just under 11 years ago, in the summer of 2004, St Patricks GAA Club in Stamullen was starting to outgrow its modest grounds at Whyte Park on the Gormanstown Road, it was time to move with the times to a bigger area that could hold a big turn over of players & teams.

The sod-turning ceremony at their new grounds at their 20 Acre site on the Cockhill Road took place on September 27th, 2008, and the work began in earnest by Prunty Contractors. Complex construction commenced on August 10th 2010 & was completed August 5th 2011. Each part took place in Phase's with Phase 1 "Lands Sourcing, Rezoning & Transfers" Phase 2 "Construction of Playing Pitches" Phase 3 "Construction of Clubhouse & Sports Complex" & Phase's 4 & 5 "Astro Turf Pitches Construction & Pitch Floodlighting".

Today June 2015 our club grounds are officially open & St.Patricks can be proud to have three sand-carpeted pitches - a full size main pitch been described as a "carpet"  & on its day the best playing surface outside of Croke Park, a juvenile pitch surrounded by a running track and a full-size floodlight training pitch, 2 Astro-Tuft outdoor floodlight pitches along with a fully fitted Gym. A stunning purpose-built sports pavilion with ample car & bus parking facilities. The sports pavilion consisting of a 750sqm indoor sports arena, changing facilities, community meeting rooms and function rooms not to mention 2 fully fitted kitchens, the sports pavillions as a whole creating a strong architectural image that is was voted club grounds of the year 2013 by Meath Gaa County Board.

The facilities will serve the entire community of Stamullen and Julianstown for many years to come, We often have to pinch ourselves and say that 11 years ago if someone told us this could be done we probably wouldn't have believed them. But in saying that it's there now and now is the time for the club to concentrate on the playing of the sports that we all love & getting back on top. The Future is bright Hondapats !.

In the last eight of the Feis Cup St.Pats faced Seneschalstown in Slane. In the U8's & U10's St.Patricks Gaa Grounds was the host venue for this rounds of latest Go Games blitz which proved out to be a great morning for all.  Visiting teams were Trim, St.Vincents & Cilles.  Many thanks to all mentors & players for a great morning of juvenile gaa, future is bright for all. The Royal Landy
A lovely gesture from the management team of Meath Senior Team and a proud moment for 'local lad' and St.Patricks Gaa star Donal Landy  as he made his first appearance in a Meath senior jersey at the official opening of the St Pats clubhouse and grounds in Stamullen in a game Meath won by a scoreline of 2:13 to 1:12. Having had Sullivan & Murphy & others to name but a few in a Royal Green before him it was great to see another Pats player given the chance. Well done Donie, hope your got the hunger for the jersey, its there for the taken, let this not be a last we see of a you linning out for the "Royals". Ironically last time Meath won "Sam" was in 1999 (7th title) with two St.Pats men in the team since then the big cup has failed to return to Meath.

Meath Ladies Leinster Final
Congratulations Meath Minor ladies - Leinster "C" Champions who defeated Wicklow in the final played in Clane on bank holiday Monday in May. Final score Meath 9-13 Wicklow 2-6. Congratulations to St.Pats girls Katie Dowling, Emma White, Katie Brangan & Hazel Callaghan who are part of this team. Well done on this fine win. While in the Meath Ladies final St.Pats/DuleekBellewstown met Boardsmill in Rathcairn with Boardsmill taken the Div4 title on a score of 2:13 (19) to 1:10 (13).

LGFA
Following on from the recent trials which were held in Skryne Gaa club St Pats U12's had 5 girls representing our club. We have received great feedback on all the girls on what were very trying conditions weather wise but the girls gave their all & we are all very proud of them.
Unfortunately it was hard luck for Sarah McDonald, Megan McCormack & Ally Sullivan but congratulations are in order to Robin O'Byrne & Annie Brangan who were both successful in making it onto the Meath panel. Well done girls St.Pats are sure you will be real stars on the team. Goodluck for the season ahead for 2015. Also well done to Yasmine Walsh, Hannah Maloney & Leah Loughran who have all been selected for the Meath under 14 development squad. Best of luck ladies for the season. Give Respect Get Respect
Interesting Article published in Hoganstand recently on Spectators attending underage games that they must not forget that the kids are playing to learn at this age Child: Play to Learn : Youth: Learn to compete & Adult: Compete to win. This is not to say that all adult sport is about 'play to win' - but rather to remind us that with children we need to remember they are playing to learn (not to satisfy the appetites of adults or clubs for wins and silverware). Remember Folks the Referee's role is hard enough at juvenile boys & LGFA level on the day without extreme criticism so please show your support while on the sideline & Give Respect Get Respect while also respecting each other.

Cooney Cup 2015
Stamullen & St.Pats were the host grounds for round 5 Cooney Cup before it enters the knockout stages of the competition. Last yrs winners Duleek N.S were up against the Hosts & this years strong favourites St.Pats & the Pats Lads turned it on in style winning by a scoreline of 2:16 to 0:5 pts. Whitecross also had a 2pt win over Realt Na Mara 2:11 - 2:09. Images from rd5 are available on our FACEBOOK. In the semis St.Pats met Whitecross & a convincing win for the Pats running out winners by 8pts while Real Na Mara just edged it against St.Marys by a single score. The final will be played on June 18th in Pairc Tailteann Navan at 12:30pm.
