JFC: three from three for Bective

May 25, 2015

Bective's Brian Cantwell

Bective 5-17
Moylagh 1-8

Bective made it three wins from three by gaining revenge against Moylagh at Carnaross on Friday night.

Moylagh had beaten Bective at Pairc Tailteann in last year's Championship, a result which saw the Navan parish club knocked out at the group stages.

But there was a significant turnaround 12 months on with Jody Devine's side far too strong this time around.

Two early points from Cathal McConnell gave Bective a good start and Ciaran Breslin found the net to put five points between the sides.

That margin stayed the same for the next 15 minutes before a late first half blitz effectively put the game to bed. Brian Cantwell, Paul McCabe and Mark O'Brien all goaled and Marty Mulhall tagged on a handful of points as Bective opened up a 17-point half-time lead (4-10 to 0-5).

Bective continued to enjoy the upper hand in the second half and Cantwell added his second goal of the game and a couple of fine points while Mulhall and McCabe were also on target. Paul Lyness was the only starting forward not to score from play but nevertheless enjoyed a fine game, playing a part in several key scores.

Next up for Bective is Drumconrath in the semi-final of the Tailteann Cup at Castletown on Thursday night.

Bective: Shane Breslin; Craig Roche, Jack Grant, Dara Maguire; Jarlath Brennan, Ciaran McConnell, Colin O'Rourke; Ciaran Reilly, Mark O'Brien (1-1); Ciaran Breslin (1-0), Marty Mulhall (0-6, one 45), Paul McCabe (1-2, two frees); Paul Lyness, Brian Cantwell (2-4), Cathal McConnell (0-4).

Subs: Brian Hogge for Ciaran McConnell, Pauric McConnell for Ciaran Reilly.
