Ratoath's Paddy Coady

Ráth Tó 0-17
Wolfe Tones 2-8

Ratoath emerged deserving winners of this League fixture played on Thursday evening in Brownstown. This was an evenly contested game throughout with the result in doubt right up until the final whistle.

The first half saw the home side get off to a decent start with points from Paddy Coady ,Jack & Gavin McGowan,Wolfe Tones though eventually got going and despite hitting a number of wides were only a point down 0-4 to 0-3 after 20 minutes. It was then they scored their first goal and would remain ahead for the remainder of the half. It was pretty much point for point after the goal with the Kilberry men going in at the break 1-6 to 0-6 ahead.

Whatever was said at half time had the desired effect for Roger Casey's charges as they were a team transformed in the second half. This was particularly so in the opening ten minutes as well taken scores from the 2 McGowans,Sean Keogh and Sean O'Hanrahan put their side back in front . The McGowan brothers continued to torment the Wolfe Tones defence an with 10 minutes to go Ratoath  were 4 points in front. All this time the Ratoath defence kept a tight rein so much so that it wasn't until the 22nd minute that they conceded their first score of the second half. The visitors though kept the home team honest and a point and a late goal made it an anxious last 5 minutes for the Ratoath supporters in attendance. As it turned out Ratoath got the final score of the game- a free before the final whistle blew to end what was an enjoyable and closely fought game. Best for Ratoath were Ben,Jack & Gavin McGowan &Sean Keogh.
