Joseph Blake St Brigids

In Round 4 of the Division 3 AFL St Brigids secured a well deserved win against Dunderry.

St Brigids 3-10 Dunderry 1-6

A commanding performance in the first half saw the Brigids opening the score with a point from Michael Flood in the second minute which was followed by a goal in the seventh minute finished by Killian Kiernan who was on the end of a good passage of play.  Dunderry settled and added two points in the eighth and eighteenth minutes.  Killian Kiernan added a further point in the nineteenth minute followed by a superb long range pointed free from Joseph Blake. Oisin Kiernan added a fine point from play and the result was effectively sealed before half time with goals from Joseph Blake and Aron Kiernan. Half time score saw the Brigids 3-5 to Dunderry 0-2.

Dunderry took charge in the first ten minutes of a wind assisted second half dominating mid field on the St Brigids kicks outs scoring 1 02 and missing a lot of chances during this spell which ultimately would prove costly. St Brigids settled again with scores from two frees by Joseph Blake and two further scores from Killian Kiernan and although Dunderry managed to score a futher two points a last minute point from St Brigids Ian Browne sealedl a well deserved victory on a final score line of St Brigids 3-10 to Dunderry 1-6.  Killian Kiernan and Joseph Blake did the bulk of the scoring but this was a fine team performance by the Brigids whose work rate, tackling and off the ball running proved too much for an understrength Dunderry team on the day.
