St Colmcilles scored a 3-12 to 2-12 win away to Castletown on Saturday night to keep their unbeaten run in A League Division 2 going.

Minor star James Conlon who the previous night had hit 1-9 v Wolfe Tones in the Minor League made his first competitive start at this level and scored 0-5 in an impressive performance.  Not to be outdone, his minor team manager, Ciaran Kelly hit 2-1 to keep the Cilles towards the top of the table

The match also saw a first competitive start for another young star,  Tomás Ó hÓistín and an A league debut for the impressive Darragh Brodigan as the Cilles kept their policy of giving game time to as many young players as possible

Best for the Seasiders in a strong  team performance were Kelly, Conlon, Mullen, Lynch and Sheerin

Castletown slumped to a 4 league defeat of the season in an entertaining game on Saturday evening. St. Colmcilles gained some degree of retribution for their championship quarter final defeat to the same opposition last year. The fact that there was only 3 points margin at the end was a credit to the home side as the Cilles had a couple of 8 point leads during the game only for Castletown to dig deep and continue to make a game of it. They could have gone on to steal a valuable point only for some last ditch defending as the game reached its closure.

The visitors started the brighter and raced into a 1-5 to 0-1 lead mid way through the first half the Castletown point coming from a Darren Finney free. Castletown then came racing back into the game thanks in no small measure to the scoring of Kevin Ross who would go on to score 2-5. His first goal came from the penalty spot, his 3rd of the season, after he was fouled himself. His shot to the top corner was one of the game highlights.

It wasn't all positive for Castletown during this period of play as Robert Hoey collected a black card for a silly trip on the Colmcilles full forward.

The second half took on a similar view as the seasiders took control. Castletown just about kept in touch thanks to the hard work of the players like Damian Ginnitty , Gerard Farrelly and Wayne Donegan. Up front James Finnerty continued to torment his marker with his mazy runs. Castletowns second goal was again scored by Ross after another penalty. This time his shot was saved by the Cilles keeper only for the rebound to find the net. It sparked a bit of a fight back that saw Francis Hoey reduce the difference to 2 points. A final long range point from the Colmcilles was the icing on the cake for the visitors who no doubt are looking to take their good league form into the championship. For Castletown its 2 weeks to a date with St. Ultans in Navan.
