Leinster MFL: Two in a row for Meath

Meath collected their second win in a week in the Leinster Minor Football League with this hard fought victory over Longford at Edgeworthstown.

Meath 1-8 Longford 0-9

Denis O'Shea's made wholesale changes to the team that beat Louth in the opening round at Ashbourne. The young Royals led 1-6 to 0-5 at the break. St Colmcille's clubman James Conlon got the crucial goal on the 23rd minute.

Tomas O'Reilly topped scored for Meath sending over four frees. The introduction of Ronan Jones and Podge McGowan were crucial to the Meath win. Jones picked up a black card late on.

The points could have went the way of the midlanders but for an outstanding injury time save from Adam McDermott in the Meath goal.

Corner forward Jason Matthews scored five points for the home county.

Meath last game in the group stages is against Tipperary.
