Hurling League Final

St.Patricks made it through to another final this time in the Div3 league final where they faced their South Meath rivals in Boardsmill.  St.Pats who have already beaten their counterparts already this season would of fancied their chances going into this game. The match was played in Kilmessan with a noon throw in on a very wet morning which left the ground very mucky and soft underfoot. It was a tough first half with Boardsmill making the best of the chances on the day. St. Patricks working tirelessly at all times keeping themselves in the game with sheer grit and determination with first half points from Mark Scanlon ( 2 ) and Brian Calvey. Half time : St. Patricks 0.3 - Boardsmill 0.7

The second half opened with a clearer sky and the St. Patricks players with one focus in mind to take on the game immediately on the resumption a long rang puck from Diarmaid Quinn ended up in the back of the Boardsmill net - leaving only 1 point between the sides. In now entered a dog eat dog stage with points from both sides keeping matters equal, however with the introduction of Phil Harney for the injured Brian Farrelly the game Began to open up in favour of the east Meath side.
Harney knocked over 2 points, followed on 1 from Neil O' Flaherty and another from Diarmaid Quinn, another massive attack from Boardsmill yielded 2 points before another from Harney left it 3 to the good for the Pats. Massive defending at all times was the order of the day from J.P. Ryan, James Kenna, Shane Clarke, Gareth Mc Guinness and Michael Kennedy, while another attack at the other end saw Phil Harney rattle the back of the Boardsmill net Leaving the Pats 6 points up with the final whistle getting close.

However Boardsmill weren't finished yet and mounted another attack knocking over a point from a free before netting just at the final whistle. Full time : St. Patricks 2.9 - Boardsmill 1.10

It was with great excitement the Brian Smyth Cup for Div. 3 was presented to Brian Farrelly by the Hurling Board Chairman Dom Reilly and the Pats supporters who had travelled on the day were delighted to be present, and can now only look forward to the trip to Longford to play Wolfe Tones in the Leinster JHC Special semi Final.

Hurling Leinster Club Championship

St.Pats faced Louth club Pearse Og in the Qtr Final of the Leinster Club Special J.H.C which was played in Stamullen. This was a Very sporting game played in the excellent conditions that are a sight to behold at St. Patricks home grounds in Stamullen. The home team were very much in the driving seat throughout this encounter as unlike their opposition have being playing in competition over the past few weekends, and this was the main difference in the skills on display today. Pats got off to a flyer and never looked back taken score after score. At half time Pats lead by 9pts Half Time : St. Patricks 1. 07 - Pearse Og 0.01. The Second half recommenced with Pearse Og looking a little brighter and registering a few of their own scores however St.Pats kept going taken their tally to 2:15 in the end & ran out worthy winners. Fine performances from the outstanding back line of Clarke, Mc Guinness and Kennedy to the ever prowling forwards of Brian Farrelly, Diarmaid Quinn and Neil O Flaherty, supported by the strong midfield of Mark Scanlon and Ciaran Calvey. Well done to all. Final score St.Pats 2:15 Pearse Og 1:03.

In the Semi Finals St.Pats found their oppostion in Wolfe Tones (Mostrim) of Longford. Pats found themselves up against a good outfit in Wolfetones who are a Senior level team.  Although on the day the Pats tried and gave a good account of themselves then went down to a good home side. Pats can be proud of what they have achieved this year & know for sure that they will be back again. Final Score Wolfetones 4.10 - St.Pats 0.11

St.Pats Minor Boys Football

In the Minor Div3 semi final rescheduled game St.Pats welcomed North Meath Gaels to Stamullen where the winner would meet Killary Emmets. From start to finish St.Pats were up for this as they started the stronger playing against the wind, showed some great team play with off the shoulder running. The Pats looked in the driving seat at half time. NMG however did not come to Stamullen to make up the numbers and put the Pats under severe pressure for 15mins of the second half. They started to control midfield and won every breaking ball for that quarter. The Pats stuck to their game plan and never panicked, they rode the storm as a team, showing discipline and workrate and finished strong too win out. Final score 2:10 to 0:07.

Minor Final & Replay

The final played in Navan were St Patricks and Killary Emmets will have to do it all over again as the teams finished level 2-9 each. The Stamullen men led at the break 2-3 to 1-4. Aaron Kenna and Conor Tully posted the Pats goals while Brian Carroll netted for Killary. St Pats were a point up and looked set to claim victory but Daire Rowe converted a free to earn a draw. In the replay played in Ashbourne this was a tight nit and tuck game with Emmets playing some great football from the start, The Syddan/Castletown were boosted by an early goal from Michael Fedigan and built up a 1-5 to 0-4 by the 21st minute. They still led by that margin approaching half-time but were then stunned by a St Patrick's rally which yielded 1-2 in a three minute spell before the break.

The Stamullen sides goal came from Stephen Belton and with points from Aaron Mulvaney and Daoin Burns the east Meath outfit led 1-6 to 1-5 at the break. Two Rowe points within a minute of the restart had Killary back in front and they tightened their grip on proceedings with another point from Mark Kelly before Andrew Kenny fisted to the net to leave it 2-8 to 1-6 on 34 minutes.

St Patrick's showed great character after that to bounce back with a goal and two points from the stylish Conor Tully to leave the sides level at 2-8 each entering the final quarter. Rowe was the difference in the last 15 minutes as he added five further points with St Patrick's only response coming from Aaron Mulvaney. Some decisions were questionable and went against us but we kept plugging away.  In the end Killary were more hungrier notching up 4 pts on the trot from the boot of Daire Rowe. Final score 2-13 - 2-09.

St.Pats Minor Girls League Winners

On a very wet a windy morning in Ashbourne the St Pats Minors (Girls) took on there near neighbours St Colmcilles in a battle to see who would lift the 2014 LGFA Minor league title. There was a real tight edge to the opening 15 min's with both sides shown early signs of nerves and neither side wanting to hand the advantage to the other team. It was a Jade Geraghty goal midway through that first half that gave the Pats girls a narrow lead going in at half at half time 1-2 to 0-2.
That second half stared with both teams going point for point and then about 12 mins in we had a ten minute break as one of the Cilles girls received treatment on the side line. When the game finally did restart it was a Pats team that looked possessed with Captain Katie Dowling going on a rampage of point taking and two blistering goals from Nicole Weldon and Emma White made sure there was only going to be one outcome of this match. When the final whistle did sound there was great celebrations among the large contingent of Pats supporters as we knew we had all just witnessed history a first ever Minor title for St Pats girls. Finally hats off to the Colmcilles girls who never stopped till the final whistle, Final Score St Pats 3-10 Colmcilles 0-5
